Cheness Swords

Cheness Shobu Zukuri Series

Shobu Zukuri translates to "Iris (leaf) construction". They are so named because the tip of the sword resembles the shape of the iris leaf... (thin and slender).

Technically, the Shobu Zukuri katanas has the shinogi (ridge on the sides of the sword) running the entire length of the sword, and has no yokote or kissaki. However, the more common varient is to have the shinogi end just before the tip of the sword by a few millimeters..

Cheness Ayame Shobu Zukuri Katana
Constructed of the 9260TH spring steel, this Shobu-Zukuri katana is our preferred varient. The shinogi (ridgeline) of this sword runs the entire length of the blade... all the way to the very tip. This configuration results in a needle-like tip where the mune-shinogi-ha comes together to a singular point, facilitating penetration of soft targets.

Cheness Kurome Shobu Zukuri Katana
This sword is made for those practitioners who are smaller in stature... Where a regular length iaito is simply too long to draw correctly. This is a slightly shorter version of our Delux iaito and is blunted on the cutting edge to reduce the chance of injuries during practice.
