This is a wakizashi that has been mounted in the opposite direction,
meaning the tsuka actually conceals the blade. This weapon is used in
close combat or to counter muto dori. Your sword may differ slightly,
variations in tsuba and bohi will occur.

Shikorogatana
The shikorogatana, saw sword, is endemic to Togakure ryu. Also known as
the destruction sword, this weapon causes huge damage by tearing wounds
open, making them incapable of being stitched shut. Normally this blade
was left to rust slightly to induce tetanus in the opponent. This sword
must be handled extremely carefully, the drawing of this sword must be
performed perfectly to prevent tearing of the saya after time. It is
also reccommended this sword never be used for
suemonogiri(tameshigiri), the sword was not designed for cuts in that
style and the pressure on the blade may be dangerous.
